26 OCTOBER 2025

I hope you are all healthy, happy and doing great.
A lot going on in 'Sprex World' which I try to keep separated into the various different plarforms, pages and sites to avoid over-load and confusion.
I would like to announce this morning that aside from the many varied band projects currently in fruition, that I will be re-focusing and working hard in my home studio over the coming winter months on the re-birth of my solo project 'Pirate Peace Punk' .. A project I originaly started in 2016 with the release of the album 'Warrior' and a string of Belgian intimate live shows.
Work schedule, unfortunate ill health and various things have got in the way for the past decade .. But .. I am bringing it back again in 2026 with the release of a new album of all-original material, live performances throughout Europe and the UK, and a brand new pod-cast which is almost ready to go on-line.
Watch this space .. Stay Punk, Stay Peaceful, Stay Pirate!

JULY 2025

MARK AND THE SLUM DOGS re-formation
Originally formed back in 2007 as a duo side-project between Mark Penington (Caravans) and Mark Sprex (Rhumba Kings) the band recorded one mini album and one full-length album (both self-released) during 2007-2008 joined by Sam Penington as studio drummer and Thomas Lorioux (Kings Of Nuthin', Frantic Flintstones etc) as touring bassist.
The band enjoyed quick but short success touring all over Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg for a couple of years (2007-2009)
Sadly busy schedules, logistics and general everyday life brought closure for the next 17 years .. But .. in the Winter of 2024 something happened!
A casual chat between the two Marks (who have always humorously referred to each other as M1 and M2) sparked a fire which quickly ignited into the re-formation and new chapter of the 'Slum Dogs' story.
Re-grouping with Thomas during a day off from his extensive 'Heathen Apostles' European tour, and joined by new band member Craig Boyd (Green Hornets, Emtifish) the band became a 4-piece and they hit the studio in July 2025 to record new studio demos for their brand-new up-coming album.
Now fully-charged and ready to burn up the dirt tracks and winding roads of rock n roll adventure once again ..
All done in their signature rockabilly-hillbilly-folk/punk-gypsy flavoured-60's garage/pop infused rock n roll finely-tuned mix .. Which will please the ears and feet of anybody with a good taste for good times!
See you on the road!

JANUARY 2019

The year has started with an explosion of creativity and productivity ... Mark officially launched his long in pre-production solo 'un-plugged' project concept 'PIRATE PEACE PUNK' .... Influenced by artists as diverse as TV Smith, Kurt Cobain, Henry Rollins, Keith Richards, Adam Ant, Dexter Romweber and Jack White.
Mark's eclectic and diverse musical tastes, paired with his fascination for the historical origins of piracy and skullduggery, blended gently with his genuine concern for the need of world peace .. Has finally given birth to 'M.S.P.P.P.'
